El año de la supervivencia: Óscares 2014
Este año las historias giraron alrededor de la supervivencia. En el espacio o en mar abierto, huyendo del crimen o la esclavitud, buscando un compañero del futuro o queriendo reconectar con el pasado, buscando una fortuna por necesidad o por capricho. Las historias elegidas de este año nos dan un amplio espectro para hacer honor a la habilidad del ser humano de seguir viviendo.

Por mucho que quisiera ver coronado a Alfonso Cuarón y Sandra Bullock, el trabajo de Steve McQueen y su increíble cast de recrear magistralmente una novela que además apoya la fuerte tendencia de películas de la lucha por la libertad no se puede ignorar. Se ahorraron la molestia de nominar a Woody Allen.

David O. Russel hizo un buen trabajo el año pasado, pero no alcanzó la excelencia deSilver Linings Playbook. Cuarón merece un reconocimiento por dirección, pero como ya tiene su Globo de Oro quizá no lo logre esta vez. Se extraña la presencia de Lee Daniel yThe Butler.

Meryl Streep, August: Osage County
Adams ganó un Globo de Oro porque hubo una categoría de actriz de comedia, pero Blanchett viene arrazando la categoría sin piedad en todas las premiaciones. Bullock tendrá que esperar a que llegue otro papel tan bueno como éste, que seguramente ha sido subestimado porque recién ganó un Oscar por The Blind Side en 2010. Dench y Streep son las legendarias y seguras, o como la misma Meryl dice de sí misma: “Soy noticia vieja”.

Realmente DiCaprio después de dedicarle toda su vida al cine merece ser reconocido. Mala suerte que se topó con McConaughey que le gana en antigüedad y además en el mejor papel de su vida. Ejiofor parecía un favorito pero su actuación en TV ha tenido más impacto.

El indiscutible ganador. Su transformación pudo más que la de Christian Bale, aunque es de resaltarse que Hill ha comenzado a tener muy buenas interpretaciones. El pobre Abdi tendrá el privilegio de ser la estrella de la temporada. Cooper no superó su personaje deSilver Linings Playbook, por lo que no esperaría que ganara (además dio su discurso en los Premios SAG dando por muertas sus oportunidades de ganar un Oscar).

Nyong’o parece haber tocado una fibra sensible que no pudo superar el carisma de Lawrence. Sin querer hay dos mexicanos nominados al Oscar. Y ambos como posibles ganadores.
